This Sunday, head to the Dallas Museum of Art to explore their latest collaboration with the High Museum of Art! On November 10th, the two institutions will present “Speechless: Different by Design," an exhibition that merges research, aesthetics, and innovative design to explore the vast spectrum of sensory experiences, new approaches to accessibility, and modes of communication in a museum setting.
"Speechless: Different by Design" will debut new work by six leading and emerging international designers and design teams. These include Ini Archibong, Matt Checkowski, Misha Kahn, Steven and William Ladd, Laurie Haycock Makela, and Yuri Suzuki. All of the highlighted projects were informed by conversations with specialists from prominent academic and medical institutions.
Their new works create participatory environments in which senses are merged or substituted for one another—for instance, sound will become visible—so that visitors can engage with their surroundings in new and unconventional ways. The exhibit will be curated by Sarah Schleuning, The Margot B. Perot Senior Curator of Decorative Arts and Design and Interim Chief Curator at the DMA.
Established in 1903, the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) is among the 10 largest art museums in the country and is distinguished by its commitment to research, innovation and public engagement.
